Advent 12/18/22 Sacred Knowing

Grace and Peace Sunday, December 18

Romans 1:1-7 (NRSV)

Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy scriptures, the gospel concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be Son of God with power according to the spirit of holiness by resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the gentiles for the sake of his name, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ:
To all God’s beloved in Rome, who are called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

_____

Grace and peace to you are gifts from God. These are the gifts we are given as Christians because God loves us. Do you want peace, an absence of conflict, in your life? Everyone does. We get the peace of God through Jesus Christ. We do not always feel this, but it is always there for us if we ask.

Maybe you are going through a time in your life where you do not feel love for God or feel loved by God. However, what's most important is that you believe you are loved by God. This must shape your thinking and your choices above everything in your life.

I recall a time in my life when I hit rock bottom, because I was in an abusive relationship. I signed up for a Precept Upon Precept class for the book of Romans. That class was a turning point for healing in my life. I finally found peace, saw the light and not darkness, found grace, and felt that God loved me deeply.

Through all of this I found that all I had to do was ASK God for his love, grace, and peace. It had always been there for me. All you have to do is ASK God if you're going through a rough time in your life, because God is there, waiting for you, to being light back into your life.
