Amos 9:11-15
“On that day I will raise up the booth of David that has fallen, and repair its breaches, and raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old…”
When you look at your life, what do you see? Do you see a variety of broken pieces? How can you put them together?
During this Advent, focus more on raising up, repairing, and rebuilding. As human beings, we look in the mirror and see so many broken pieces that we have no clue how to repair them. As you think about sin, your past, and its effects, you most certainly feel shame over it or regret. We look around us, at the world at large, and see so much brokenness; we see broken relationships, pain, hurt, and the effects of these broken pieces.
On the contrary, the Advent promises beautiful memories, the birth of our Lord Jesus, our Savior. It points to Jesus the King, from David’s throne who makes all things beautiful. It points to God’s promises to raise up, repair, and rebuild all broken pieces.
God is continually working in our lives every day, gradually restoring us to himself through His love and forgiveness of our sins. He is daily bringing us closer to Him and into the image of Jesus; not the broken sinful hearts that we were saved from. He is bringing us to a point of love and hearts that love, obey, and glorify Him.
God wants us to be conformed into the image of Jesus by being repaired, rebuilt in the image of his son, and by living a Christian life that reflects Him. It is a process, but one day it will be complete!
