Advent 12/4/22 Sacred People

The Sacred One
Sunday, December 4

Genesis 1:26-31 (The Message)

God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them
reflecting our nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.”
God created human beings;
he created them godlike,
Reflecting God’s nature.
He created them male and female.
God blessed them:
“Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!
Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,
for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.”
Then God said, “I’ve given you
every sort of seed-bearing plant on Earth
And every kind of fruit-bearing tree,
given them to you for food.
To all animals and all birds,
everything that moves and breathes,
I give whatever grows out of the ground for food.”
And there it was.
God looked over everything he had made;
it was so good, so very good!
It was evening, it was morning—
Day Six.

In the beginning………
of human existence on Earth and in this Advent season, let us reflect on the Father’s great love. God made people in His image and provided for them just as He still does for us today.  The Lord sent Jesus, His Son, in human form to live on Earth among us and provide guidance and forgiveness to us.  The Savior started life as a baby, just like us.

So we shall rejoice and sing:
For unto us a child is born,
Unto us a Son is given.
And the government shall be on His shoulders.
And His name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.
Fill our hearts with an attitude of gratitude.

Prayer:
Show us how to be more Christ-like in our actions, thoughts, and deeds.  Thank you for the Sacred One to save us.  Now and forever more. Amen.
